WORD FAMILY BOXES

This systematic kit comes in a set of 8 to introduce onset and rimes to students Kindergarten through 2^nd grade.  The goal of using Word Family Boxes is to teach students how to blend different initial consonants with selected rimes (spelling patterns), in this case, -an, -at, -en, -ip, -eg, -ot, -ug, and –ax, to see what words they can make.

Box #1: Movable letters m, a, n, v, f, and 3 objects man, van, fan.

Box #2: Movable letters c, a, h, t, r, and 3 objects cat, hat, rat

Box #3: Movable letters t, p, e, n, y, and 3 objects; pen, ten, yen

Box #4: Movable letters h, i, l, z, p, and 3 objects; hip, lip, zip

Box #5: Movable letters k, e, l, p, g, and 3 objects; keg, peg, leg

Box #6: Movable letters p, o, d, t, and 3 objects; pot, tot, dot

Box #7: Movable letters m, u, r, g, b, and 3 objects; mug, rug, bug

Box #8: Movable letters s, a, w, j, x, and 3 objects; sax, wax, jax

-Each box contains 11 lowercase letters, and 3 objects.

-Objects are about 2.5"-3” and not intended for children under 3.
